Currently June

Currently what?  June!!!  I'm like a kid at Christmas!!  Join me as I link up with Farley for her monthly currently!
Listening...to silence!  I took a personal day today from school to drive my daughter (15 years old) and my parents to the airport.  They are flying to Europe today to travel around Italy, France, and Spain.  They will end their travels with a cruise around Italy!  I wish I could go with!
Last night we laid hands on Hailey in prayer!
Loving...that my parents are giving her this opportunity.  They are taking her on this trip that she will remember for a lifetime!
Thinking...is it Friday yet?  Our last day is Friday and (of course) I'm more excited that my firsties!
Wanting...to start my summer list of things to do!
Needing...summer organizing!  My name Heidi and I am an organizationaholic!  (Yep!  Just made up that word.)
Summer Lovin...while my 15 year old daughter is traveling the world, I still have a 9 year old daughter at home!  We have big plans to ride our bikes everywhere, play games, camp in the backyard (that's roughing it for me!), take morning walks, and etc.  Ahhh!
Finally, Farley is raising money for the sweet, beautiful town of Wimberley.  It was recently devastated by flooding.  The Wimberley Adoption Group and Rescue (WAG) has been overloaded with pets rescued from the flooding.  Some of their owners were victims and some have no homes left to return to.  Please join us and consider donating $1 to this great cause!  Go here to see how you can donate!

Thinking:  It's already ABC Countdown!!  We will be on "C" Monday!

Yes:  My daughter is taking Driver's Ed

Happy New Year!
I'm starting the new year off right by linking up with Farley!

Listening...to Gilmore Girls!  My daughter and I recently starting watching all the Gilmore Girls series.  There are 7 seasons and about 21 shows per season!  We have a lot of catching up to do!

Loving...my new hair color!

Thinking...how nice it will be to have my man home!  He took a few vacation days that he had left over from 2014!

Wanting...more winter break!  Yep!  I'm in love!  Relaxing, laundry, cleaning, parenting, board games, shopping, lesson planning, etc.  Best of all...no alarm clock!!  I don't want it to end!

Needing...to take down Christmas decorations today.  I usually have them down already but (now that my man is home to help) I'll do it today!

Yes!  I've decided to go to a Spring Teacher Blogger Meet Up in Indiana in March!  My good friend, Amanda, at Mrs. Pauley's Kindergarten invited me to go with her and I'm super excited!!
Maybe I'll still be cleaning tomorrow?  I hope not!
I wish for a wonderful year ahead and I am excited to see how God will bless us this year too!
I love having crazy friends!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a fantastic 2015!

Currently November

Happy November!!!
I get excited each time a new month comes rolling around!

I'm also thrilled to link up with my friend (Nope!  She doesn't know me from Adam) Farley!

Listening:  to silence!  Aww!  I'm in my element when there are no distractions.  I love the extra hour of sleep...or blogging!

Loving:  My new iPhone 6 Plus!!!  And my district had Fall Break last week!  I worked on lesson plans, TpT products, SMART board lessons, and got to read for fun!  I spent time beating my family in Ticket to Ride (our fav board game)!  Okay, okay my husband won but I usually do!

Thinking: of how truly blessed I am!  God has given me amazing gifts, opportunities, and people to share them with.  I have been married 14 years, have a 14 year old girl (Don't do the math, it makes me look bad!), and an 8 year old girl!

Wanting: a laptop!  I am saving my TpT pennies to buy myself one for Christmas!  I love Apple products as my home is laced with them.  Therefore I am setting my sights on a MacBook Pro!!

Needing:  my new SMART board (love it) lowered!  Yep!  I can't reach the top, which means my firsties can't either.  Here is proof that this little cutie can't use the board because she is to little.
I am looking for awesome first grade SMART board lessons if you have any good suggestions!?!

Reading:  Any book by Karen Kingsbury!  She is a phenomenal Christian Fiction Author!  I finished my twentieth book of hers this past week!  On to twenty-one!

Thanks for stopping by!

October Currently

Yay!  I actually look forward to linking up with Farley at the beginning of the month!

I am super excited that September is O-V-E-R!  Can I get an Amen?!  Even though it was my birthday month, it's always a challenging month.  September was really tough, hot, and all about setting those routines.  October is here and I feel like I can take a breath!

Let's get to it...

Listening to my two daughters say good night to each other and there was NO blood!  They can be the best of friends and they can also be severe enemies.  It is very sweet!

Loving that my classroom routines are normal and I can teach other things.  Guided Reading groups, Words Their Way Groups, Co-teaching groups, Daily 5, Morning Routine and etc. are SET!  Whew!  No wonder September is a challenge!

Thinking that I enjoyed attending a LEGO Story Starter Professional Development day!  I have been using LEGO Build To Express for a year now and have never used Story Starter.  I think my students are going to love the kits!  The picture is the teacher goodie "bag" they gave us at the training!  Just fun and cute materials!

Wanting my new iPhone 6 Plus to ship!!!  It's on back order until October 24th (another reason to love October).  I'm worried it's going to be huge but I use it so much that I think it might be just what I need!

Needing bio freeze!!  Sunday I ran my second 1/2 marathon!  I just stopped taking Aleve around the clock.  My body is sore but I had a blast!  This is the view as I ran across the interstate bridge!  Beautiful!

I love the charm my husband bought me for my bracelet after the race!

Treat!  This is the time of year for Whitey's Pumpkin Ice Cream Shakes, pumpkin pie, and pumpkin bars!  Yep!  I love the comfort foods the season offers!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to link up with Farley for October!

Currently September

Good Morning!!  Sit down for a cup of coffee (or for wimps like me, hot chocolate) and enjoy my Farley Currently September!

Listening to silence!  Both my girls are still sleeping!  They spend the night together in one of their rooms on weekends.  I think it"s so cute!  My husband is at Starbucks working on his lesson for the junior high youth group that he helps teach!  (I am one proud wife!)

Loving this Labor Day!  I HATE alarm clocks!  I practically wake up at the same time anyway on the weekends but it's not by an annoying song.  I love checking Instagram, Facebook, and etc and slowing waking up!

Thinking about which projects to complete today!  Should I work on my TPT Common Core Assessments, Words Their Way planning for my class, lesson plans for the next couple weeks, laundry, or cleaning my house?

Wanting the new iPhone 6!!!  I've heard its supposed to be announced on September 9th and my birthday is September 10th.  I'm in the process of dropping major hints to my family!  The new phones sound awesome!

Needing more ink for my printer!  I feel I ALWAYS need more ink!  The printer at school messes up labels so I usually have to print those at home.  It is so expensive to be a teacher!

3 Trips I've NEVER taken but want to are to Italy, New York, and Michigan.
Italy:  I'm italian and would love to visit where my family came from.  I love to dig into personal history!
New York:  Just because I want to.  I think it would be awesome!
Michigan:  Our family's best friends move to Michigan and we miss them like crazy!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!  I would be thrilled if you would follow my blog, Facebook and Instagram!  I love friends!

August Currently

It's bittersweet linking up with Farley's August Currently  I love linking up but that also means...it's August!  (Boo!)  I love the routine of school but that means a daily flow of cupcakes and treats.  (It's always someones birthday in the building between past students and staff members right!?)

Listening:  I love listening to my 8 year old laugh and giggle while watching cartoons on a Saturday morning!  She is an amazing little girl!  This morning I went for a run (I don't enjoy running and have to force myself to do it) and she told me that she is proud of me!  How sweet of her.  To be honest that's exactly what I needed to hear because I have this special talent to talk myself out of any physical exercise.

Loving:  I am on the list for A Bird in Hand Design blog makeover and couldn't be more excited.  As you can tell my blog looks like a child designed it.  I am so embarrassed by how my blog looks and am looking forward to it!

Thinking: My "to do" list is overwhelming!  All teachers experience this and that gives me some comfort but I hate the anxiety of not knowing if I will have enough time (or money) to make my room look how I want it.  Not to mention my principal just informed me that I currently have 32 students in my first grade class.  (Nice, huh?)  He is working on getting that number lowered but there is only so much that can be done.

Wanting:  I love being with my girls!  I have an 8 year old (Molly) and a 14 year old (Hailey) whom will be starting high school this year.  I remember tucking her in last night and she was starting kindergarten.  What happened???  I swear I didn't even blink and she grew up.  Hailey just returned from being away at my sister's in Arizona.  She was there for 20 days!  I missed her so much!  This picture is both my girls hugging at the airport!

Needing:  I have a co-worker who I am meeting with next week that uses "Words Their Way."  I wanted to do this last year but my focus was on Common Core.  I completely did away with our district curriculum and created, borrow, found Common Core materials to use.  I am using the Dana Center Sequenced Units for math and love it!  I also use a lot of Engage NY!  I wasn't to impressed with the assessments so I have been spending my summer creating First Grade Common Core Assessments to use after each unit.  I am very excited about it!

First Day Back with students is August 19th!  Hope it will be a great year!
